A Peaceful morning with a little spinning

Yep, I had another grueling day at PT yesterday and another one coming today and will need to leave shortly. In order to get my mind in the right place, I spent my early morning doing this........
mmmmm.......a little spinning on my Hansen while looking out the window on a rainy morning.  My mind is now in a good place.

I also have a few finished projects that need to have some pictures taken. I should have done it yesterday when we had such a beautiful sunny day, I just didn't have the energy.  I started the Summer Flies Again shawl as well.  I had originally planned this project as part of a contest KAL at the LYS, but alas, I just didn't have the time to start the project.

A weekend of ennui

OK, so I've made great progress in my rehab. I graduated to no cane within a 3 week period and was feeling pretty good. As long as I didn't overdo it, I walked around the house with no cane, I could stay up sitting in a chair longer, etc.

Feeling pretty good right?  Well, I thought, it's time to wean yourself from the pain meds.  I started that on Friday other than the 2 pills I took right before PT.  Saturday I was cranky and cried at the drop of a hat. I was miserable and in quite a bit of pain. That continued through part of Sunday and I seriously thought something was wrong.
I got myself back on a reduced pain med regime. Only 1 pill every 4-6 hours and that has helped tremendously. My body was still in pain, I just didn't know it.  So, the ennui is attributed to pain med withdrawals and the resulting pain. It was not a fun weekend.

I did start a new project yesterday. The Japanese Knot Bag in some of my handspun that was spun at last year's spin retreat in Monteagle.  Pictures to come.

Renewed Interest in some old WIP's

Although I am itching to start a new project, I have been working on some languishing WIP's with some renewed interest.  The Lace Ribbon Scarf that I had originally started in 2008 and blogged about here and here.  This has been hibernating quite a while. It is now sitting on the couch with me and if I can do 5-10 rows per night, then it will make progress.  I have been managing that for about the last 5 nights, so we'll see how I do.  It still doesn't have the excitement for me as it did when I first saw the pattern.  Why does that happen? Do we get so enamored with a pattern that we fail to see the truth? or is it more because we are like kids in a candy shop?  We just see so many things we want!!!  Anyway, we'll see if I finish it.

The next one I've been working on is the Tee for Two. I started this one in February 2011.  I'm knitting it with Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.  I finished the front panel and nearly done with the back panel. I'm knitting these panels against another top that fits me well. A work in progress and I'm not sure how it will turn out yet.

I'm halfway through my Physical Therapy sessions. woohooooo.  Range of motion is good. They massaged the scar tissue yesterday, that HURT!!  I have to do it myself as well. hmph.

I haven't done any spinning in over a month. It might be about time to get my spinner out. Don't you think??

a tout a l'heure......

Knee Replacement Update

A little over 2 weeks since surgery now and all is well. I have full range of motion on the knee and have graduated to a cane from the walker. I am very pleased with my progress. That first week was a little rough, the second week a little better, and the 3rd week is looking good.  I still have quite a bit of swelling, but at least it's beginning to look like a knee again.

I didn't feel like knitting those first 2 weeks, can't do much lying flat on your back.  So, end of last week, I picked up my needles, finished my blue Raggi socks, started working on that old Lace Ribbon Scarf again and then the blue glitzy scarf that I started right before I had surgery.

That's about it for me at the moment.
